Honors continue to pour in for Brainerd graduate Chris Bjorklund.
On Tuesday, the junior men's basketball player at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., was named to the All-Big West Conference first team which is selected by coaches. Bjorklund is the first player in Cal Poly history to make the first team since the Mustangs became a Division I school in 1994.
As a freshman and sophomore Bjorklund received All-Big West honorable mention. In addition in 1998 he was voted Big West Freshman of the Year.
This season Bjorklund ranked second in the Big West in scoring (19.4), was seventh in blocks and 11th in rebounding.
The 6-foot-8 junior forward, whose scoring average has climbed each season (17.3 as a freshman, 18.1 as a sophomore) has 1,499 career points. He is 402 points shy of the school record teammate Mike Wozniak set this season.
Bjorklund led Cal Poly in total points (525), scoring average, minutes per game (35.0), rebounds (7.0), assists (74), blocks (24), field goal attempts (14.8), field goals made (6.9), free throws attempted (6.7) and free throws made (4.6).
