United Way's Day of Caring set May 11
The Crow Wing County United Way's third annual Day of Caring is set for May 11.
Non-profit agencies are in the process of submitting volunteer projects that can be adopted by a company or organization. Outdoor and indoor projects will be available. Past projects have included painting, planting flowers, clearing trails, Web page design and carpentry work. A selection of projects will be available April 1.

Salvation Army will
have booth at mall
The Salvation Army will sponsor a booth from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Westgate Mall for Community Services Day.
The army will collect food and monetary donations for the food shelf.
Brainerd city committees
to meet next week
A Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for 7 a.m. Wednesday in the Brainerd City Hall council chambers.
The Brainerd Economic Development Authority will meet at 8 a.m. March 16 in the Brainerd City Hall council chambers.
Essential Health board
STAPLES -- The Essential Health Plan Joint Powers Board of Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties will meet at 9:30 a.m. March 17 in the plan office at 200 First St. in Staples.
Salvation Army seeks
March is Minnesota Food Share Month and the Salvation Army in Brainerd is asking for the public's help to restock its food shelf.
The Salvation Army receives allocations from Minnesota Food Share based on the pounds of food and the money it collects during this month.
Last year the Salvation Army Food Shelf received more than 10,000 pounds of food in March and distributed more than 79,900 pounds throughout the year to more than 4,200 people, half of whom were children.
