The Community Action Council of Crow Wing County received a $5,000 grant to fund area coordination in developing a community cultural plan.

The Community Action proposal was one of six community grants totaling $75,000 from the Initiative Foundation for February. Serving 14 counties in central Minnesota, the Initiative Foundation seeks projects that strengthen communities and address barriers to economic development.

Grants are available for short-term planning efforts up to $5,000, program implementation for single projects up to $10,000, or multi-community projects up to $25,000. In select cases grants will be made to projects having a direct impact on children, youth or families of up to $50,000.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and are generally reviewed within 90 days of receipt. For more information, contact the Initiative Foundation toll free at 877-632-9255, or go online at www.ifound.org.
