Brainerd High School will send four representatives to the State Swimming and Diving Championships. Mike Abrahamson and Joe Vrudny each qualified in two events and divers Tim Fraser and Jeff Millam also gained berths in the State meet.
30 years ago (1970)
The Brainerd Mall will be observing its Second Anniversary March 12, 13, 14. Plans call for a cake cutting ceremony. The cake will be 100 feet long and will be served to customers.
40 years ago (1960)
A motion was approved authorizing the City Attorney to write to the Northern Pacific Railway for a survey on the cost of an underpass which would go under 13 sets of railroad tracks.
60 years (1940)
Snow disappeared as though a magic wand were being waved over it today as a 10-day period of spring-like weather continued. The noon temperature was 32 above and a warm sun made a quagmire of streets, as gutters filled with melting snow.
80 years ago (1920)
The eleventh hour rush is now in progress making out income tax statements. It's awful to have to pay taxes on money that has "incomed" and "outgoed."
100 years ago (1900)
