Bren Smith (left), volunteer Betty Salmon and Jaime Barry created an elephant chair sculpture from trash Friday in Marti Sauer's fifth-grade room at Riverside Elementary School in Brainerd. The project, which began Feb. 21, involved the production of life-sized chair sculptures from papier-mach and masking tape. The Brainerd Public Library and Riverside School library each will receive a finished sculpture. The remaining sculptures will be auctioned at the school carnival April 4 with the proceeds going toward books for the school library. (Dispatch Photo by Steve Kohls)
