Most of the Child In Need columns in recent months have featured the need for male mentors to be partnered with the long list of boys we have on our waiting list. However, this week we turn our attention to a little girl made of sugar and spice and everything nice and eagerly waiting for an adult partner.
Our featured child is an adorable second grader named Meredith. She spends her time between Mom and Dad's houses. Meredith enjoys painting, science, drawing animals and reading "Biscuit" books, (she said these are dog stories.). She also loves Hannah Montana and eating Chicken Alfredo! Meredith is a special needs child with Cerebral Palsy but her mom says she is a very smart little girl who needs encouragement and is going through a difficult time right now.
When asked what she'd like to learn, Meredith's response was "learn how to walk without a walker". A perfect partner for her would be a woman sensitive to her disability who could really help boost her self-esteem. She needs a quiet but firm person who is not necessarily into high energy and physical activities, although Meredith does like going for walks and swimming.
This delightful little girl is so looking forward to having an adult partner. If you would like to share your friendship and spend some special time with Meredith, call Kinship Partners at 829-4606 in Brainerd, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
