Warrior boys seeded fourth

The Brainerd Warriors boys' basketball team has been seeded fourth in the Section 8, Class 4A tournament and will host No. 5 St. Cloud Tech at 7 p.m. Thursday.

In the other opening-round game No. 6 Bemidji will be at No. 3 Duluth East.

On Saturday the Brainerd/Tech winner plays at top-seeded St. Cloud Apollo while the Bemidji/East winner plays at Moorhead. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

The championship game is 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at a neutral site.

Bjorklund, Cal Poly end season

Long Beach State beat Cal Poly 100-92 in the final regular-season game of the Big West Conference men's basketball season Saturday.

Brainerd graduate Chris Bjorklund scored 10 straight points for the Mustangs in the second half. He finished with 25 points and six rebounds.

Joerger scores 14 in last game

ST. CLOUD (AP) -- Rado Rancik scored a game-high 25 points to lead St. Cloud State to an 80-77 men's basketball victory Saturday over Minnesota State.

Staples-Motley graduate Blaine Joerger had 14 points and seven rebounds in his final collegiate game for the Mavericks (15-12, 8-10).

Softball league to be formed

An organizational meeting for the Cuyuna Range men's softball league is scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ironton Fire Department.

Fyle, Stefan win finale

OUTING -- Jeremy Fyle of Pequot Lakes and David Stefan of Remer raced Arctic Cats to wins in the Central Minnesota Cross Racing final snowmobile event of the season Feb. 27 at Roosevelt Lake.

Fyle won the 440-Liquid Pro final and Stefan won the 440 Fan Semi-Pro feature. In season points, Fyle finished third in his class and Stefan won his class.

Finishing second was Ryan Houston of Walker in the youth class on a Polaris, Curt Hemsworth of Remer on an Arctic Cat in the 440 Liquid Semi Pro class, Rhett Johnson of Remer in the 500 Pro class on a Polaris, Craig Hemsworth of Remer on an Arctic Cat in the masters class and April Moritz of Emily on a Polaris in the women's feature.

Sara Johnson of Aitkin placed third in the women's final on a Polaris.

In the final season point standings, Curt Hemsworth won the 440 Liquid Semi Pro title, Rhett Johnson was second in the 500 Pro and Sara Johnson was second in the women's class. Andy Moritz of Emily was second in 440 Fan Semi Pro.

Meyer shoots hole in one

Joni Meyer of Brainerd shot a hole in one Feb. 26 at the Sunrise Golf Course in Sarasota, Fla. She used a 5 iron to ace the 151-yard 15th hole.
