The Brainerd City Council Monday approved the job description for the city planner/community development coordinator, and authorized advertising for the position.
The position will combine city planner practices with some economic developer duties.
Al Cottingham, former Brainerd city planner, resigned effective Feb. 9.
In other council action, the council:
Heard a presentation from Jay Beebe of the commemorative community program to remember the 50th anniversary of the Korean War. The council expressed its support of the program.
Heard a presentation from Brad Fordyce, who invented a thin-ice rescue device.
Approved sending a letter of support to legislators supporting Lakeland Public Television legislative funding bills.
Set a city council meeting for 5 p.m. March 26 to discuss an administrative law judges findings and recommendations regarding the New Winnipeg Lounge on-sale liquor license.
Approved the recommendation to the Crow Wing County District Court that Gene Goedker be named to serve a term on the Charter Commission.
Called for applicants to fill a vacancy on the Transportation Committee and the Charter Commission.
Approved the purchase of a Ford El Dorado bus for use in the Dial-A-Ride program. The total cost of the bus is $50,140. The city's share will be $5,014. Federal and state funds will pay for the majority of the cost.
Approved the hiring of a new police receptionist, Kelly Rustom, effective March 14 at $11.83 per hour.
Approved pay raise of Eric Pratt, engineering technician I, to $17.04.
