Snow and rain clouds lingered over the West early today as high pressure built over much of the East and Midwest. Mild conditions were in store for the nation's midsection.
A strong storm system was moving over the West, bringing moisture from the Pacific Ocean in the form of widespread rain and mountain snow into the central and lower Rocky Mountains.
Snow watches and warnings were in effect for Utah, California, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. Snow levels were forecast to be light in Washington, Oregon and the Sierra Nevadas.
