What a scream!
It has been said by those who know her that Kate Carlson, the artist, has a creative spirit that simply won't retire. Thirty-two years of art education in Connecticut, Illinois and Indiana have indeed prevented her creative flair from fading. In 2001, after receiving the honor of Outstanding Art Educator, Carlson retired from a teaching position in Indiana and moved to the Brainerd lakes area.

VOX POP
On Tuesday, about 2 p.m., we drove north on Fifth Street past the high school when a young fellow about 16 or 17 years of age cut in front of us. We had no stop sign which gave us the right-of-way. We could have broadside him if we had not slowed down. When my wife honked, the young driver turned in our direction to let his tongue hang out. I think only people 21-plus years of age purchasing their own vehicle should be allowed to drive a vehicle.

Recently, you carried an editorial from the Washington Post, calling for repeal of the law allowing for concealed carry in national parks. What is important is what they don't tell you. This law doesn't allow anyone and everyone to just walk into a national park with a concealed firearm. This law allows a concealed carry permit holder to carry a concealed firearm in a park if their permit is recognized in that state. For example, a Minnesota permit holder could not legally carry in any California national park because California does not recognize a Minnesota permit. It's just another effort by anti-gunners to further restrict law abiding citizens. I also would like to add that an applicant for a concealed carry permit undergoes a much more rigorous vetting process than a cabinet appointee in the Obama administration.
