Clarence Johannessohn

FLORENCE, Ariz. - Clarence Orval Johannessohn, 81, of Florence, Ariz., died Feb. 17, 2008, at Hospice Family Care in Gilbert.

Services were held at Simes Mortuaries Florence Chapel. Burial was in Coolidge Valley Memorial Park.

Mr. Johannessohn was born March 12, 1926, in Borup, Minn., and was a son of Carl and Augusta (Scherf) Johannessohn. He was an Army veteran of World War II in which he served as a sergeant for the 17th Infantry Regiment. He was inducted into the military on July 8, 1945, in St. Paul and was honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1947, at Fort Beagle in California. He was employed as a broker in the real estate business. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, needlework, carpentry, puzzles and a great game of cards.

Survivors include a brother, Norval A. Johannessohn, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Augusta W. Germolus, of Deerwood, Minn.; and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glorene (Olson) Johannessohn, and two brothers, Leo E. and Carl J. Johannessohn.
