20 years ago (1984)

Hopes for spring were dashed Sunday when four inches of snow fell over the Brainerd area, causing treacherous driving.

30 years ago (1974)

Brainerd's newly named Bicentennial Committee has set some goals for 1976. No. 1, it wants to see the restoration of the old water tower completed and No. 2, it wants to see a Crow Wing County Museum in operation.

40 years ago (1964)

A 16-point lead built up after 20 minutes, dwindled away rapidly in the final 240 seconds for the Washington High School Warriors, but they weren't to be denied a rubber game victory over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers 44-41, which meant the District 4 High School Basketball Championship on the Concordia College Court.

60 years ago (1944)

Jim Fitzharris, former gridiron great of Brainerd and St. Thomas, who was named Little All-American for college football feats, has again popped into the spotlight, this time as a "deadeye" guard with one of Uncle Sam's Seabees cage squads.

80 years ago (1924)

District tourney in Bemidji. Brainerd High School defeated 12 to 11 by Little Falls and Staples beat Pine River 15 to 8.

100 years ago (1904)

Excursion rates to the south.
