The 29-year-old man arrested Monday after officers found him and his friend with stab wounds at a Little Falls residence faces a charge of felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Jason Allen Larum was charged Wednesday in Morrison County District Court. Bail was set at $30,000 unconditional or $10,000 on condition that he possess no weapons, have no contact with victim, abstain from illegal drugs and take all prescribed medication.

According to the criminal complaint filed against Larum:

• About 3:45 p.m. Little Falls police officers responded to a report of a fight at an apartment building on Eighth Street Southeast. When they arrived they saw a man outside the building holding his arm.

• Officers noted the man, identified as Larum, was bleeding from his arms and two knives were in his left hand. An officer ordered Larum to drop the knives, which he did. Larum was agitated and said he was a victim of assault by another person in the apartment building.

• Officers found the victim, Daniel Beckman, in the apartment building and bleeding profusely from his right arm and blood pooled next to him. Beckman said he was stabbed by Larum after they got into an argument.

• At the hospital, Beckman told an officer that Larum came over to his apartment and the two got into an argument about Beckman buying alcohol. Beckman said he asked Larum to leave but Larum wouldn't.

• Beckman also said he knew Larum always kept knives in his possession and he was afraid Larum would use one. Therefore, Beckman said he struck Larum in the head and tried to push him out of the apartment.

• A struggle ensued and Beckman said he felt his arm being cut. Beckman said he got away from Larum and Larum swung at his stomach with the knife but missed. Beckman was able to get Larum out of the apartment, lock the door and call 911.

• Larum had a cut on his arm but didn't know how he got it. He said after Beckman punched and pushed him he felt he had to defend himself, so he jabbed Beckman with his knife. He also said that he attempted to jab Beckman in the stomach area.
