Wine and beer tasting with silent auction
PINE RIVER - The Pine River Friends of the Library Foundation annual wine and beer tasting fundraiser will be from 6-8 p.m. March 13 at the AmericInn Lodge and Suites. Beverages provided by Ultimate Liquors. Hors d'oeuvres provided by Lakes Latte. Tickets are $15 in advance (at the library, Ultimate Liquors and Lottas Stuff Store) or $17 at the door. Friends members receive a $2 discount.
The proceeds will go to repay the loan for the roof.
Free cardiac panel tests available to area women
The Women's Wellness team of United Way is collaborating with Minneapolis Heart Institute and Quest Labs to provide cardiac panel lab tests, free to local uninsured and underinsured women.
The cardiac panel test will analyze lipid levels and help determine the risk of coronary heart disease. Lipid levels can indicate the likelihood of a heart attack or stroke caused by blockage of blood vessels or hardening of the arteries. Women participating in this service will have the opportunity to review results and ask a physician questions at group educational meetings.
Uninsured or underinsured women residing in Crow Wing or southern Cass counties should call United Way at 829-2619 to reserve an appointment. Space is limited to the first 200 qualified applicants.
