WADENA - The Region 4 Golden Gloves Boxing tournament will be at the Wadena Armory at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday
Boxers from central and northern Minnesota, 119 pounds to superheavyweight, will be matched. Competitors will come from Wadena, St. Cloud, Willmar, Fergus Falls, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes, Climax, Fargo-Moorhead, Leech Lake, Duluth, White Earth and Park Rapids.
On Friday, eight Class A bouts will be fought with four junior and novice matches and one female bout scheduled. Nine championship bouts, along with some novice and female title competitions will be scheduled Saturday.

Smith, Olejnicak help Cobbers
The Concordia College 4x400-meter men's relay of Josh Smith ( Staples) and Dusten Olejnicak (Brainerd) continued to close in on the school record at the Cobber Open.
On Feb. 22, the quartet clocked a 3:25.25. That time is .39 of a second off the record time set last year at the MIAC meet.
Smith also continued his string of outstanding performances in the 600 meters. In the Cobber Open he ran a 1:24.24 to win the event. That time is the third fastest in the MIAC.
