20 years ago (1988)

The Brainerd High School Choir, directed by Mike Smith, is one of four Minnesota high school choirs selected to perform along with the Hamline University A Cappella choir in the Hamline Choral Festival March 8 in St. Cloud.

30 years ago (1978)

John Hall was recently honored as the outstanding club member by the Merrifield Marathons Snowmobile Club. He was presented a plaque for his efforts in raising over $3,000 for this year's March of Dimes ride.

40 years ago (1968)

Work is under way by Northern Pacific Railway Company to remodel the east end of the freight depot at 718 Front so that the passenger depot at Sixth and Washington can be abandoned.

60 years ago (1948)

A 20-year pin was given to Frank G. Hall, Brainerd Lion, in honor of Hall's regular attendance at Lions Club meetings. Lion Hall has not missed a meeting in the 20 years of his membership.

80 years ago (1928)

Some of the most difficult driving is experienced on the city streets here in Brainerd where deep ruts still persist. The country roads on the other hand, due to proper snow removal, are generally clear of ruts.

100 years ago (1908)

There will be $6,900 available for use on the state roads in the county of Crow Wing this coming summer.
