BEMIDJI - Mindy Howard's 24 points helped second-seeded Pequot Lakes defeat a pesky fifth-seeded Warroad Warriors 58-55 in the East Subsection 8-2A final Saturday.
Trailing by four points with a little more than a minute to play, Pequot's Emily Lueck, who finished with 13 points, went on a six-point run in a matter of five seconds. Lueck followed a 3-point shot with a steal of Warroad's inbound pass and converted a 3-point play to put Pequot ahead for good.
The win gives the Patriots a berth in the Section 8-2A championship against Crookston Friday.
Emily Lueck scored six quick points to give Pequot the final lead.
Robin Soukup scored 13 points for Pequot.
