Dean Philip Prushek, 83, of Brainerd, died on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. He was born on Oct. 19, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Minn., to Joseph E. and Frances L. (Bluntach) Prushek.
Dean grew up in Perry Lake Township. He attended a one-room school and worked on the family farm. He was an active 4-H member. He was a former member of the Emily United Methodist Church. In later years Dean lived in Brainerd. Currently he was a resident of Carefree Living (Brainerd Manor). Dean enjoyed drawing and many activities at the manor. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir at Park United Methodist, where he is a current member.
He is survived by two brothers, Arnold (Virginia) Prushek, of Crosby, and Joseph (Mabel) Prushek, of Crosby; one sister, Mary (Wayne) Leisman, of Oak Park Heights; cousins; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Minnie; one sister, Gayle Rognaldson; and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Dean Prushek memorial fund.
