PINE RIVER -- Vergene Adella Osterloh, 87, of Pine River, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at her home at Riverside Villa Apartments. Memorial services will be held at Union Congregational Church in Hackensack on Friday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Small officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
Vergene Adella Noble Osterloh was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Backus, Minn., the daughter of Ernest and Laura Noble. She graduated from Backus High School, met LeRoy Osterloh from Hecla, S.D., while he was on a fishing trip to the Backus area. Vergene and LeRoy were married Nov. 19, 1939, lived in South Dakota until 1970 when they moved to Hackensack and operated Sunset Bay Camp. After selling the resort, the Osterlohs were business people in Hackensack until they retired. They moved to Pine River and enjoyed 10 years at Riverside Villa together. On Nov. 19, 2004, Vergene and LeRoy celebrated their 65th anniversary.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, LeRoy; her son, Jerry (Cathy), of Pine River; son, Rod (Jody), of Pine River; son, Corwin (Arvie), of Winona, Minn.; sisters, Corrine McAllister (Dan), of Bemidji, Joanne Marschall, of Carson City, Nev., Norma Wosika (Ken), of Las Vegas; brother, Richard; nine grandchildren, Lori Swenson (Tim), of Hutchinson, Minn., Jill Ackerman (Bob), of Pine River, Janette Eckstrom (Dave), of Farmington, Minn., Tricia Osterloh, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Justin Osterloh, of Milwaukee, Brenna Osterloh, of Vail, Colo., Joe Osterloh (Angie), of Baxter, Minn., Dan Osterloh (Carrie), of Tacoma, Wash., Andrew Osterloh, of Pine River; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wendall; brothers, Denzel and Paul Noble; and sisters, Wanda Heemstra and Merle Ellis.
