Roy Schellin is retiring after 21 1/2 years at the Brainerd Post Office. He is looking forward to retirement with mixed emotions. A retirement party is planned for Saturday.

The first lumberjack jaunt cross country ski race was proclaimed a success here Sunday as 49 racers left the starting line in a shotgun start. The race was run at the Brainerd Country Club.

An impressive ending to a 13-5 regular season was accomplished by the Brainerd High School Warriors in Sauk Centre's sparkling new gym Wednesday, coach Fred Kellett's improving quint dealing the Mainstreeters their most one-sided licking of the campaign, 82-53.

The Brainerd area was in the grip of the coldest weather in over a week this morning when the mercury dipped to 22 degrees below zero. At noon today the mark was 6 degrees above zero.

C. W. Koering and his son, C. J. Koering, are opening a meat market and provision establishment in northeast Brainerd, as indicated by the advertisement in today's Dispatch.

The Commercial Club of Brainerd is pulling strings to secure a paper pulp mill for that city. It is rumored that the Northwestern Paper Company is on the string.
