Margaret was born in Staples on Sept. 3, 1913, to Bert and Anna (Dahlen) Wilhelmson. She attended the Staples schools and graduated in 1932. In 1936, she was united in marriage to Olaf Sather. She lived in Staples all of her life except for 10 years that they lived in Vashon, Wash. The past three years she has been a resident at Lakewood Pines Assisted Living Facility.
As a member of Faith Lutheran Church she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the Ladies Aide and later the FLCW. Her sewing skills were often utilized in a variety of volunteer activities. As a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, she enjoyed working as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop. She was a part of the original supervising team at the Ringer Manufacturing Company when it opened.
Margaret is survived by two daughters, Karleen (Thomas) Tjepkema of Port Wing, Wis.; and LaVonne (Roger) Avery of Fridley, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Isla (Richard) Sather of St. Paul; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Alice (Henry) Sather, Elizabeth (Ralph) Sather, and Mildred (Norman) Wilhelmson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf; son Richard; three sisters and three brothers.
She especially enjoyed the love and respect of her nieces and nephews. The residents of Lakewood Pines were her extended family.
The family asks that memorials be given to Faith Lutheran Church Bell Choir, which played at Margaret's 90th birthday, and the Parish Nurse program, which served her so well during her final days.
