20 years ago (1984)

Todd Erickson, 6'4" junior center who wound up his regular season slate with 26 points here Friday with a 19-69 loss to Co-Champion Willmar, has been named by loop coaches to the Central Lakes All Conference Boys Basketball team.

30 years ago (1974)

Brainerd's YMCA swimming team qualified 25 individuals Saturday at the Sectional swim meet held here for next week's state tourney in St. Paul. Leading the way for Brainerd were Matt Vrudny with five first places and John Mielke with four victories.

40 years ago (1964)

Mr. and Mrs. William Graham and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson will represent the Brainerd Rotary Club on a goodwill trip to England next month.

60 years ago (1944)

Purchase of war bonds in the fourth war loan bond sale in Crow Wing County totaled $1,055,410 or 135.5 percent of the county's quota of $742,000. The returns in war bond purchases was far in excess of expectations.

80 years ago (1924)

To Rosko Brothers, Dodge car dealers, goes the honor of being the first to introduce balloon tires in Brainerd. Your car can run over curbs or other obstructions without any appreciable jar to the driver.

100 years ago (1904)

At the last meeting of the city council it was intimated that it might be a good thing to tackle the Northern Pacific on the proposition of paying their share of the expenses of constructing the general sewer. Their share will amount to $2,000.
