Cornhuskers hammer Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- No. 16 Nebraska beat Minnesota 15-2 Sunday afternoon in the Metrodome.

Nebraska starter Quinton Robertson pitched six innings, giving up two hits and one run and striking out three to improve to 2-0 on the season. Minnesota pitcher Craig Molldrem gave up five earned runs in one and two-thirds innings to take the loss and drop to 0-1 on the season.

Luke Appert had two hits for the seventh game in a row this season for Minnesota (3-4). He went 2-for-4 with a run.

Jeff Liese went 4-for-6 with a homer, four runs and three RBI and Joe Simokaitis was 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBI for the Cornhuskers (7-2).
