The American Legion Auxiliary is seeking candidates interested in attending the Minnesota Girls State Conference June 8-14 at Bethel College. The Auxiliary is part of the Carl Sydney Hanson American Legion Post No. 255 in Brainerd. To attend the conference girls must currently be high school juniors at a private, public or parochial schools, or be home-schooled. Candidates must be good students who exhibit good moral character, including courage, honesty and cooperativeness. They should have an interest in political science and government and be physically able to attend the full session of activities. Candidates will be selected at the auxiliary meeting March 17. Matthew Holbrook and Stephanie Marolt, both of Brainerd, were named to the fall dean's list at Michigan Technological University. Holbrook is a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering and Marolt is a senior majoring in chemical engineering.

Katherine Baratto of Deerwood was named to the fall dean's list at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Baratto is a junior in the science and engineering program.
Mac Caughey, Fort Ripley, was named to the fall president's list at North Dakota State College of Science. Caughey is a sophomore majoring in diesel technology.
Anna Norlin of Pine River graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Norlin earned a bachelor's of science degree in exercise and sport fitness.
Brenda Hughley of Brainerd was inducted into the Alexandria Technical College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recently. Hughley is enrolled in the accounting program.
Marie Leblanc of Brainerd and Katie Hochmayer of East Gull Lake were named to the fall semester dean's list at St. Olaf College. Leblanc is a junior and Hochmayer is a senior.
Andrew Doucette, a 2001 Brainerd High School graduate, was named to the dean's list at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Doucette is majoring in computer engineering.

Troy Androli, the son of Roy and Celestine Androli of Baxter, is one of five team members who will represent the University of Notre Dame at the College Bowl National Championship Tournament that will be held at the University of Pennsylvania in April. Androli is a 2001 Brainerd High School honor graduate. He was active in the knowledge bowl. He is a sophomore majoring in engineering.
Breanna Holland of Baxter was named to the fall dean's list at Western Michigan University.
Andrea Smith, a Brainerd high school Distribution Education Clubs of America member, has been elected as vice president for District 5. She will provide to more than 15 chapters in the state. Smith along with 14 other Brainerd students attended a conference to elect state officers. The other students were Billy Bigler, Kevin Imgrund, Nate Masske, Kris Vitale, Roberta Anderson, Melissa Frisbee, Jackie LaTour, Deana Maier, Dan VanEssen, Kim Peterson, Alicia Knadel, Jesse Fletcher, Amanda Poissant and Ashley Smart.

Sarah Kalinoski, the daughter of Stan and Mary Kalinoski of Baxter, recently received many honors at the 77th Little International livestock show at North Dakota State University. Kalinoski is a junior majoring in mass communications.
