30 years ago (1977) - The sign on Brainerd's outdoor Gull Theater which doesn't operate in winter says, "Think Snow." There are 8 inches of snow on the levels in the woods 200 miles north. The snow line starts at Brainerd. North there is snow. South there isn't.

Brainerd High School basketball player Mitch Means read to first-grade students Thursday at Harrison Elementary School. BHS basketball players demonstrated their pre-game warmup for the students in the gym and read books and answered questions.

Mother Nature shook the Brainerd lakes area like a giant snow globe Thursday as heavy snow fell for much of the day.

Open Forum
The Open Forum letter written on Monday about the prohibition of marijuana made me wonder why marijuana was prohibited in the first place, so I did a little research and found that health risks had very little to do with it. In fact, the main reasons it was prohibited were because of racism and money.
