Martin's Sports Afloat, part of a family tradition that goes back more than half a century, is leaving the family fold. As of Friday, Lee R. Anderson of St. Paul took over ownership of the boat and motor business. Jim Dullum took over the two sporting goods stores the family had established in downtown Nisswa.
30 years ago (1975)
The fifth grade class at Lowell School, taught by Paul Belgum, has been getting some first hand experience in understanding engines. The students worked in pairs and took engines apart and reassembled them.
40 years ago (1965)
Heavy snow caused a roof on one of the 300-foot long turkey barns owned by Earl B. Olson just northeast of Merrifield on Highway 3 to cave in. A new truck was buried, but there were no turkeys in the building at the time.

Crow Wing County residents have donated a total of 1,568 pints of blood to the American Red Cross since the inception of this program in October.

The Sherlund Company, one of the pioneer automobile dealers in the city, has just completed arrangements for the agency of the Oakland Car, this continuing as a member of the General Motors Big Family.

Attorney E. H. Krelwitz, of Aitkin, came over today to meet his wife who has been visiting in the Twin Cities, but she did not come.
