Pillager girls oust Pirates

PILLAGER -- Senior Whitney Hoheisel scored 19 points to help the Pillager Huskies girls' basketball team past the Verndale Pirates 55-30 in the opening round of the East Subsection 6, Class 1A tournament Monday.

"It was the first time the girls played as a team for the entire game," said Huskies coach Derek Schlieve. "The seniors led the way for the younger girls. This was a perfect time for us to come together."

Katie Rasinski added 17 points for Pillager. Cayla Collison led the Pirates with 12.
