Compared to Thursday, not enough slaughter steers, heifers, or Holstein steers to test the market. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm. Not enough slaughter bulls on offer to test the market. Near 1,300 feeders expected for the auction.
Slaughter Steers: Not tested.
Holstein Steers: Choice 2-3: 1,240-1,580 lbs. 59.00-61.00.
Slaughter Heifers: Not tested.
Slaughter Cows: Premium White 70-75 percent lean; Breaking 70-80 percent lean; Boning 80-85 percent lean 42.25-45.00; Lean 85-90 percent lean 40.00-45.75, 30.00-36.75 (low dressing).
Slaughter Bulls: Yield Grade 1-2: 1,620-2,175 lbs. 52.50-56.75, low dressing individual 45.75.
For the week: Compared to late last week, slaughter steers and heifers sold mostly steady to firm. Receipts were very light this week on both steers and heifers. Slaughter Holstein steers sold fully steady to firm, with a good supply of steers every day this week. Slaughter cows started off the week trading steady to week. Bids turned around by mid-week, and cows closed out the week selling fully steady with fleshier Breaking and Premium White cows 1.00 higher. Slaughter bulls continue to remain in tight supply and traded steady to firm on light tests.
Compared to Thursday, barrows and gilts .50 higher. 47-50 percent lean 220-260 lbs. 39.00-39.50; 47-50 percent lean 260-270 lbs. 38.00-39.00; 46-48 percent lean 270-280 lbs. 37.00-38.00.
US 1-3: under 400 lbs. 29.00; 400-500 lbs. 30.00; 500-550 lbs. 31.00; 550-600 lbs. 32.00; over 600 lbs. 33.00.
Boars: Steady: under 300 lbs. 29.00; 300-700 lbs. 14.00.
For the week: Compared to last Friday, barrows and gilts closed out the week trading .50 higher.

Slaughter Lambs: Shorn: Choice, few Prime 2-3: 110-140 lbs. with 1-2 pelts 65.00-67.00. Wooled: Choice, end Prime 2-3 110-140 lbs. 60.00-62.00.
Slaughter Ewes: Utility and Good 25.00-30.00. Cull 20.00-25.00.
Feeder Lambs: Medium and Large 1-2: 60-80 lbs. 75.00-85.00; 80-100 lbs. 65.00-75.00.
For the week: Compared to last week, all classes of sheep sold steady, with definitely a weaker undertone on slaughter classes Wednesday and Thursday. The supply this week included 70 percent slaughter lambs, 20 percent slaughter ewes, and 10 percent feeder lambs.
