20 years ago (1990)

Students supporting a Pine River High School freshman in a dispute with Principal Don Coburn walked out briefly for a period of about 30 minutes. The students protested the student being asked to leave for shaving half his head and wearing a nose earring.

30 years ago (1980)

If you call Crime Stoppers and the line is busy, don't be discouraged. There might be a slight wait. The program, which offers cash rewards of $25 to $1,500 for tips on crime, has begun to pay off, said Sheriff Frank Ball. The people have been phoning in.

40 years ago (1970)

A climb from 10th place to 7th place in the 50-yard freestyle by Rick Oseland gave coach Bud Schmid's Warrior swim team a higher finish in the state swim meet. Oseland swam a 23.3 in the preliminaries, then won the consolation with a time of 23.5.

60 years ago (1950)

Brainerd's Warriors wound up their regular season with a 58-52 home victory over Crosby-Ironton for its 22nd win in 23 games, but only its third win in 22 games against C-I. A referee said it was a typical Brainerd - C-I game, a thriller all the way to the buzzer.

80 years ago (1930)

In a listless basketball game, Brainerd won over Wadena by 22-13 in the Washington gym. An indication of the way the two teams played is shown in the statistics. Brainerd made 7 of 65 field goal tries, while Wadena made only 4 of 42.

100 years ago (1910)

Several young men in Northeast Brainerd have rigged up a motor sled with which they are having considerable fun. It is said to travel at a good rapid clip and to be easily managed.
