Brainerd boxers win at Fergus Falls

Three members of the Golden Lakes Boxing Club scored victories Saturday on a card at Fergus Falls.

Nathan Scott (70 pounds) decisioned Ry Denzel of Fergus Falls, Justice Valentino (95) beat Ramie Denzel of Fergus Falls and John Higganbotham (150) defeated Cody Lee of Climax.

The Southern Region tournament is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Wadena Armory. Boxers from Wadena, St. Cloud, Brainerd, Fergus Falls, Verndale, Sebeka, Detroit Lakes, Climax and Alexandria will participate.

The region is a Class A and B tournament. Female and junior boxers will be matched. Class A winners advance to the Region 4 Boxoff March 26 at Wadena. The northern part of Region 4, Duluth, Cass Lake and Lake Lena, will face boxers from the southern half to qualify for the Upper Midwest Tournament April 8-9 at Hinckley.

Wadena Class A boxers are Bruce Butler, Cody McManigle, Brandon Hall, TJ Steward and DeWayne Steward.

Wadena novice boxers (under 10 bouts) include Tyler Wicklund, Matt Edwards, Trent Petro, L.D. Kuschel, Frank Orsello, Jason Hendrickson, Travis Petro, Patchrick Szathmary and Luke Miner.
