Errant shooting eliminates Cards

COLLEGEVILLE -- The second-seeded Staples-Motley Cardinals shot 24 percent from the field, 21 percent from three-point range, and lost 48-41 to third-seeded Holdingford in the District 19, Section 6, Class 2A girls' basketball semifinals Saturday at St. John's University.

Jill Rademacher scored 15 points and Angela Krych 10 for Holdingford. Krych grabbed 13 rebounds and Rademacher 10 as the Huskers outrebounded S-M 49-28.

Jacque Peterson was the only Cardinal in double figures with 15 points. Kendell Spar had nine rebounds and Melissa Roberts eight steals for S-M.
