Concert to feature guest conductor for Brainerd High School choirs

Greg Aune from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, will work with the choirs at Brainerd High School on Sunday and Monday.

Aune then will direct the Bards, Concert Chorale and A Cappella Choir in the annual Guest Conductor Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Middle School, Brainerd.

Tickets will be available at the door at $3 for adults and $1 for students.

Rehearsals are open to the public. On Sunday, the A Cappella Choir will rehearse in the BHS Choir Room from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

On Monday, all rehearsals will be at Tornstrom Auditorium. The Bards will rehearse from 8:20 to 10:25 a.m., the Concert Chorale will rehearse from 10:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the A Cappella Choir will rehearse from 1:15 to 3:10 p.m.

A feature of the Guest Conductor Concert will be the performance of the fifth-grade Elementary Honors Choir, directed by Frances Johnson and Carol Smith. This group is selected by an audition and a recommendation from elementary music teachers.

Michael Smith, BHS choir director, will direct the group in the concert.

Accompanists for the evening's concert will be Cathy Taylor and Frances Johnson.
