STAPLES -- A 20-year-old Staples man faces assault charges in connection with the Wednesday morning shooting of a 29-year-old Long Prairie man.
The victim was shot once in each arm. He was transferred to St. Cloud Hospital.
Staples Police Chief Kyle Huber could not be reached for comment. The name of the victim and any possible motive for the shooting have not been released.
Staples police were called at 2:42 a.m. Wednesday to a downtown apartment building in connection with this shooting.
The suspect is being held on first- and second-degree assault charges in the Todd County jail, Todd County sheriff's officials said. He also is being held in regard to a probation violation on a Todd County conviction.
Gaylord Saetre, Todd County attorney, said this morning he expects to file charges, which he anticipates will include first-degree assault, possibly later today.
