STAPLES -- The Student Senate of the Staples campus at Central Lakes College recently organized and directed Sno-Daze activities that included a medallion hunt, coronation, ski trip, poker run, sno-sculpture, sno-volleyball, tug of war and sno-football contests, and a magic show.
Each day of the week, $20 was awarded to the winner of a dress-up contest. A semi-formal dance capped the weeklong festivities that provided $500 in cash prizes in the friendly competitions.
The Senate, which also coordinates intramural recreation, such as flag football, bowling and co-ed basketball, as well as graduation ceremonies, is led by President Jack Hanggi of Staples, Vice President Heidi Miller of Little Falls, Secretary Michelle Koehler of New York Mills, and Treasurer Stephanie Strough of Brainerd.
Other senators are Jim Titterington, Annandale; Ben Vlamink, Minneota; Stacy Wisch, Jeff Thompson and Michelle Collison, all of Staples; Jenny Schreiner, St. Cloud; Travis Okstad, Ely; Chad Thompson, Grafton, N.D.; Ali Hassing, Blue Earth; Mandi Selisker, Brainerd; and Jennifer Heck, St. Thomas, N.D.
