Miracles still do happen everyday

It seems we Christians have forgotten about the tremendous power and resources that are available to us.

We have this theological approach to scripture and to our idea of God that places God in a little box. We have this great knowledge of what God can and will do. Well, it just may be that God is much greater than our theology.

We tend to discard miracles and Divine intervention in this modern time. Those things were only for biblical times. Some of the leaders even believe the Bible is mostly stories and myths. At best just some illustrated stories to give us some direction. 2 Timothy says "all scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."

God tells us that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. To me that says that everything that He did, and was, in biblical times is still available for us today. Miracles still happen everyday.

I know miracles still happen because I was the recipient of a miracle on New Year's Day this year. I was diagnosed on Dec. 30 with bladder cancer. Three different doctors saw the scans and agreed it was cancer.

There is a lot of fear and confusion when you hear that news. You wonder, what do I do, where do I turn?

I remembered a Tony Campolo video I had seen many times, "It's Friday, but Sunday's coming." In that video Tony Campolo says, "When in doubt, do what the Word says!"

Now that is the best advice you will ever get. So I went to the Word of God. James 5 says "Is anyone sick? Let him call the elders, anoint his head with oil and pray and the sick will be healed."

We called together believers on New Year's Day. Over 70 people showed up. Ten or 12 different churches were represented. (What an awesome show of love and unity.) I was anointed with oil and prayed over. I went through several tests over the next month. Every one showed no signs of cancer. Praise the Lord!

Now some will discount that as a mistake in the diagnosis. I know that there was cancer but, God healed it. God can and does do miracles everyday. Sometimes we get immediate healing as I did. Sometimes He chooses to work through doctors and nurses. He has a plan and we need to follow that plan, whatever it is.

No matter how he chooses to work we need to realize He is still in control of everything and as the word says, "All things work for the good of those who believe and trust in Jesus Christ." I feel sorry for those who don't believe in God's miracles ad His work in our daily life. I have a coin in my pocket given to me by one of the my faithful friends that I carry everywhere.

The coin says, "I don't just believe in miracles, I depend on them." I could not survive this life without God's help and presence every minute of every day! Go to the Bible to see the promises God has for you. And stand strong on those promises. He will deliver you. Praise be to Jesus Our Lord, who lives and reigns now and forever! Amen.
