Robert F. Hoffman

MAINE TOWNSHIP - Robert F. Hoffmann, 86, of Maine Township, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, Minn.

He was born April 6, 1921, in Brainerd, Minn., the son of Henry and Ellen (Gedosch) Hoffmann. Bob grew up in Brainerd, graduating from high school in 1939 and Brainerd Community College in 1941.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1950 with a master's in hospital administration.

He married Delores (Dee) Frees on June 9, 1951. In 1952 he became assistant superintendent at the Fergus Falls State Hospital, was appointed administrator in 1962 and became the CEO in 1972.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dee; his brother, Ray, of Brainerd; his children, Bruce Hoffmann, of Fergus Falls, Scott (Jewell) Hoffmann, of Brainerd, Sue (Barry) Shonblom, of Moorhead, Minn., and Mark Hoffmann, of Maple Grove, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Carol.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Daren Flinck officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
