20 years ago (1985)

After nearly 40 years covering sports in North Dakota and Minnesota, Jim Wallace, sports editor of the Brainerd Daily Dispatch will retire in March. He considers covering Brainerd's 1954 state basketball championship his greatest thrill.

30 years ago (1975)

The new $500,000 College Center at Brainerd Community College will be the central exhibit at a college open house scheduled for April 27. Lt. Gov. Rudy Perpich has agreed to speak at the ceremony.

40 years ago (1965)

The Pow Wow, the Washington High School newspaper, has been given the top award, "All American," by the National Scholastic Press Association.

60 years ago (1945)

The annual Red Cross War Fund Drive directed to raise the sum of $20,000 in Crow Wing County, got under way this morning in Brainerd with a breakfast conference of workers in the Hotel Ransford.

80 years ago (1925)

Agatha, "It's no use, your proposing to me, old thing. I should never dream of marrying a man who could not afford to divorce me."

100 years ago (1905)

Mrs. E.W. Day gave a "coffee" this afternoon at her home on Ninth Street and several well known ladies were royally entertained.
