OREGON CITY, Ore. -- Violet Estelle (Nyberg) Meligan, 86, Oregon City, Ore., died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in Oregon City.
She was born Aug. 23, 1914, in Ralph, Mich., to Linus and Marie (Bloomstrom) Nyberg. She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1932. She married Elmer Lee on March 18, 1933. She lived in Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota until 1951. She moved to Portland in 1956. She was a social worker and a Realtor. She was a member of Tri City Baptist Temple in Milwaukie, Ore.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gerald Meligan, The Dalles, Ore., Jack Meligan, Heppner, Ore., and Daniel Meligan, Sedona, Ariz.; two daughters, Kaye Verges, Portland, and Kathleen Turner, Diana, Texas; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dewey Nyberg, Chisago City, James Nyberg, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Donald Nyberg, Brainerd; and a sister, Marie Hammond, St. Paul.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Portland Memorial Sunset Chapel in Oregon. There will be a private entombment in the Portland Memorial Mausoleum. Memorials are preferred to Willamette Falls Hospice in Oregon City.
