Testing of chlorination equipment by the Brainerd Water and Light Department has produced complaints of a musty taste and odor by Brainerd water customers. Walt Sjolund, superintendent, says it does not pose any health problem.

Officials in charge of the Brainerd Chamber's Commerce and Industry Show will again host the two-day event. This year the show will move from the Brainerd Armory to the Civic Center. The larger facility is needed due to the 7,000 attendees last year.
40 years ago (1969)
Two sections of the Nisswa School district voted in favor of consolidation yesterday, one with Brainerd and the other with Pequot Lakes. A third section, slated to go to Pillager, was turned down, now becoming a problem for Cass County to decide.
60 years ago (1949)
The Brainerd Junior College Red Raiders became the undisputed champions of the Northern Junior College conference when they beat Gogebic 61-54 at Ironwood, Mich. This is the first championship any Brainerd JC team has won.
80 years ago (1929)
Company of local talent directed by David Goodnature scores a success at Pequot, and standing room was at a premium. With four shows to its credit Eyes of Love has made a longer run than any other home talent play in Brainerd history.
100 years ago (1909)
T.B. Lauer, who has been keeper and property clerk at the government works at Cross Lake, states that the town, once one of the liveliest in Crow Wing County, is now seeing its buildings rotting away. This desolation and decay always follow logging operations.
