An 82-year-old Baxter man was injured when the driver of the vehicle he was riding in lost control, crossed the median and struck a southbound vehicle at 10:15 a.m. Thursday on Highway 371 at Glory Road in Baxter, Baxter Police Chief Jim Exsted said.
Philip Sjoberg was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd and was listed in good condition late Thursday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle Sjoberg was riding in was his wife, Dorothy Sjoberg, 78, who was not reported injured. The second driver, Carl Smith, 65, Pine River, also was not reported injured.
Baxter police also dealt with a couple of vehicles that were in the ditch and a property-damage accident with no injuries during Thursday's snowstorm.
Pequot Lakes Police Chief Jerry Braam said two drivers were involved in a head-on crash at 11 a.m. Thursday on Crow Wing County Road 11. Braam said a snowplow was kicking up snow and neither driver saw one another until they met and crashed head-on in the middle of the roadway near Nickel Road. North Ambulance checked out both drivers at the scene and both refused any further care, said Braam. Both were wearing seat belts and were driving about 30 mph when the accident occurred, he said.
Brainerd woman hit by car
A 42-year-old Brainerd woman was struck by a vehicle at 12:16 p.m. Wednesday at Washington and Northwest Second Street in Brainerd, Brainerd police reported.
The pedestrian, Sheryl Engen, was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. No condition information was available.
The driver, Christine Roach, 57, Brainerd, was not reported injured.
