It came harder than expected as visiting Two Harbors showed more ability than its overall record 2-15 record indicates, but the 1960-61 Brainerd Warrior Basketball team is congratulating itself today as being the first of Coach Fred Kellett's 13 Quints to go unbeaten during a regular season.
60 years ago (1941)
A pulverizing right hand which flattened his opponent in the second round brought Russ Fitzsimmons, 18-year-old Brainerd heavyweight, into the Quarterfinals of the annual Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chicago Stadium.
80 years ago (1921)
Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Whitney went to the Twin Cities at the end of the week and drove back to Brainerd in their new 1921 model Hupmobile. They report finding roads in good condition which made their drive home a pleasant one.
100 years ago (1901)
A Grand Masquerade ball will be held at Jones' Hall at Sylvan Lake March 22, to which the general public is invited. An appetizing supper will be served. Tickets, including ball and supper, only $1.00.
