All the fuss about the proposed roundabouts reminds me of my ancestors. My great-grandpa said, "I hear that someone wants to bring those Model-T things to Brainerd. What will become of our poor horses? There'll be accidents!" A few years later my grandpa said, "I hear the geniuses at city hall want to pave our streets! All that paving will cause accidents!" Now it's 2009 and the "Oh my gosh, the roundabouts are coming" crowd are echoing my ancestors' fears. "Build those roundabouts and there will be lots of accidents." Interesting how history repeats itself in Brainerd.
Editor's note: They have Model-T things here?
How do you balance the rights?
I have been awakened two times this past week because my home was filled with smoke, not because my house was on fire but because one of my residential neighbors has chosen to heat their home with wood. I have respiratory problems so I've had two asthma attacks because of the smoke. My question is how do we balance the right of someone to have wood heat versus my right to breathe fresh air inside the walls of my own home and not to suffer medical consequences because of my neighbor's choice?
