Lauren Nickisch will perform "Hephzibeth, Woman of Iron" on March 28.
Those attending this year's Pillager Dollars for Scholars fundraiser are in for a real treat - a dinner prepared by chef Tom Kavanaugh and a one-woman play performed by Lauren Nickisch.
Nickisch will perform "Hephzibeth, Woman of Iron," based on the life of northern Minnesota pioneer woman Hephzibeth Merritt, Nickisch's great-great-great-grandmother. Nickisch, who wrote the play, debuted the one-woman production more than 15 years ago.
All proceeds from the Pillager Dollars for Scholars dinner theater fundraiser go toward scholarships for Pillager students.
The event is scheduled March 28 in the Pillager High School Theater, 323 E. Second St. Seating begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. and the play to follow. Dessert will be served during the intermission.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by calling Sue Van Hal at 746-2105.
Kavanaugh will present a four-course "Kavanaugh Classic": Minnesota wild rice and mushroom soup; St. Peter's blue cheese and poppy seed salad with spiced, candied pecans and blueberries; herb roasted pork loin with creamy peppercorn sauce and rosemary roasted potatoes; corn saute with wilted spinach; and white chocolate bread pudding with Rum River butter sauce.
