Aitkin danceline wins state tourney

ST. PAUL -- The Aitkin All Starz Dance Team won the state championship in the Class A High Kick state tournament on Saturday at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul.

"We've had a tremendous season. We've done very well in both high kick and jazz funk," coach Marion Cordie said today.

Cordie said that at a welcome home ceremony in Aitkin officials said this was the first state championship for any team at Aitkin High School. She said more than half of the team members were new to the dance team this year.

The Pequot Lakes Revolution Dance Team was the state runner-up on Friday in the Jazz Funk Division.
