CLC qualifies for region tournament

WILLMAR - The Central Lake College Raiders women's basketball team placed fourth in the Minnesota Community College state tournament Sunday and advanced to next weekend's Region 13B tournament.

The Raiders will host a first-round region game against fellow North Division foe Northland at 1 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, the Raiders trailed Ridgewater just 29-24 at halftime but were outscored 54-25 in the second half to drop the third-place game 83-49.

CLC's shooting woes continued as it shot 28 percent from the field, bringing its shooting percentage in its last two games to 26 percent.

Becky Skiba led the Raiders in scoring, netting 14 points.

On Saturday, the Raiders faced off against Anoka-Ramsey in the semifinals and lost 65-42 despite Skiba's 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Poor shooting plagued CLC again. Saturday's game started the trend as the Raiders shot 24 percent from the field, including 1-for-16 from 3-point range.
