Mary G. Lifflander

McGREGOR -- Mary G. Lifflander, 86, McGregor, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Mille Lacs Nursing Home in Onamia.

She was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Sydney, Australia, to Herbert "John" and Mary (Stewart) Charnock. She was an Australian Signal Corps. veteran serving during World War II. She was a nurse while living in Australia. She married Stanley W. Lifflander on May 3, 1944, in Brisbane, Australia. She moved with her family to the United States in 1946.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret "Maggie" Jarpey, McGregor, and Judy Lynn Leigh, Oak Lawn, Ill.; a son, John, Battle Ground, Wash.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, John House and Bruce House, both of Australia.

Her husband and a sister, Eva, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Big Sandy Lake Alliance Church with the Rev. Steve DeMars officiating. Burial will be in Pine Needle Cemetery.

Friends may call an hour before services Saturday at the church.
