Bizarre weather continues to affect flights at area airport

February's weird weather continued to wreak havoc on travel plans at the Brainerd-Crow Wing County Regional Airport with no inbound or outbound flights at the airport since about 6 a.m. Thursday.

"It would be nice to see a plane," Tracy McCalla, customer service Agent for Mesaba Airlines, said today as she dealt with the affects of the bizarre weather that saw today's thunderstorms with lightning at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport cancel one flight.

Thursday flights that had to be canceled for one reason or another were ones scheduled for 10 a.m., noon, 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Today's cancellations included flights at 5:50 a.m. and 10:55 a.m., McCalla said. She was still waiting for word on the status of today's noon flight. Visibility at the airport at about 10:30 a.m. was about 1 1/4 miles.

Morning flights were also canceled in the early part of the week as the result of the unusual stretch of foggy weather.
