VOX POP
When young athletes are taken out of school, such as the Brainerd Squirts were on Thursday and Friday to attend a tournament in Fargo, N.D., I question the wisdom of the hockey association, parents and coaches. Young people should be students first and athletes second and wonder if teachers and administrators are complacent by looking the other way? What message are these adults communicating to kids? To me, it seems like hockey is more important than school. I know there are tournaments closer to home and just on weekends and that Brainerd should only attend these events.
