Mesaba's 10 a.m. and noon flights out of Brainerd today were canceled because of poor visibility, making a total of five such cancellations this week because of dense fog in the Brainerd area. The earlier cancellations were all morning flights.
Tracy McCalla, customer service agent for Mesaba Airlines, said four of the flights were outright cancellations while Tuesday's was a situation where weather conditions forced the plane to fly over Brainerd and go on to another city.
She said landings and departures are generally not done when visibility is less than a half-mile. When flights are canceled, McCalla said that some passengers are rebooked on later flights and some chose to drive to Minneapolis or St. Cloud.
