20 years ago (1990)

Pam Muehlhausen wondered if the selection committee got her message during Teacher of the Year interviews. She and three school district finalists were drawn from among 17 nominees, and the social living skills teacher was selected for the 1990 honor.

30 years ago (1980)

(Photo) More than 170 drivers took part in the first leg of the Mille Lacs 300 International Snowmobile Endurance Derby near Garrison. Leading the pack after the first 200 miles was Jim Safranski on a Polaris.

40 years ago (1970)

(Photos) Steve Wessman, outstanding 123-pound senior grappler for the Warriors, took down Moorhead's rugged Jeff Andvik for a 3-1 Region 6 championship. Steve Borders dealt Staples' Tom Goeden a 6-1 defeat to take the 136-pound regional crown.

60 years ago (1950)

Five Brainerd Boy Scouts will attend the National Jamboree at Valley Forge, Penn., from June 30 to July 6. Among the 40,000 scouts attending will be Robert Dondelinger, Wayne Dondelinger, Ted Imgrund, William Pike and William Page.

80 years ago (1930)

The American flag was unfurled to the breeze and the thoughts of all citizens went back into history to reverence the life of George Washington today on the celebration of the 198th anniversary of his birth.

100 years ago (1910)
